LEVEL 1 · QUICK WINS

You will leave with practical quick wins you can use straight away. The aim is not to turn you into an AI expert in one session; it is to give you simple, safe ways to get better results from AI from day one.

1 · Prompt better

Reusable prompt

Leave with a simple prompt structure you can reuse for emails, summaries, checklists and planning.

2 · Save time

Admin shortcuts

See how AI can help turn messy notes, rough ideas or long information into clearer next steps.

3 · Use it safely

Clear safety rules

Know what information should not be pasted into AI, and how to keep client and business data protected.

4 · Check outputs

Confidence filter

Learn a quick way to sense-check AI answers before using them in real business work.

Inside the session

What AI is, in plain English+
AI is software that helps with tasks that usually need human thinking. It can read, write, summarise, explain, plan and organise information. Think of it as a fast assistant, not a guaranteed source of truth.
Where AI can help — and where caution is needed+
AI is strongest on tasks involving words, ideas, information or repeated admin, including drafting emails, summarising, building checklists and creating plans. But it can sound confident while being wrong, invent facts, work from outdated information, or misfire on weak instructions. Useful does not mean automatically correct.
Different AI platforms, and choosing the right one+
AI is not one tool. We will cover general assistants, workplace AI, creative AI, search AI and automation AI, then look at how to match the tool to the task, the data risk, your existing systems and your budget.
Free, paid and business access+
Cost matters, but it should not be the only factor. We will look at what free tools are good for, when paid individual access makes sense, and why business plans matter for control, approval and data protection.
Security and privacy+
A clear, practical rule: do not enter confidential, personal or sensitive information into an AI tool unless the platform is approved for that use. This includes client records, payroll or bank details, passwords, unpublished business strategy and sensitive internal information.
Your first prompting exercise+
A better prompt gives AI the task, the context, the format and any limits. We will turn a weak prompt such as “Write an email” into a clear one, using a simple structure learners can reuse afterwards.

AI bookkeeping after the session

AFTER THE SESSION

After the session, Paisley from Merranti will be offering practical AI bookkeeping training and support for businesses that want to make their bookkeeping clearer, more consistent and easier to manage. The focus is on using AI-assisted tools sensibly alongside your existing accounting software and normal review processes.

This is not about handing your financial records to an unchecked AI system. It is about identifying the repetitive parts of bookkeeping, improving the quality of the information going into your accounts, and creating a reliable routine that still includes human judgement and appropriate checks.

1 · Review

Understand your current process

Look at how invoices, receipts, bank transactions and bookkeeping queries currently move through your business, then identify where delays, duplication or inconsistency are occurring.

2 · Simplify

Reduce repetitive admin

Explore where approved AI-assisted features may help with document capture, transaction descriptions, routine categorisation, query preparation and other time-consuming bookkeeping tasks.

3 · Control

Improve accuracy and consistency

Build clear rules for checking suggested entries, handling exceptions and keeping an audit trail, so speed does not come at the expense of reliable financial records.

4 · Embed

Create a workable routine

Turn the ideas into a practical weekly or monthly bookkeeping process that fits your team, your accounting software and the level of oversight your business needs.

What the training can cover

Each business starts from a different point, so the training can be shaped around the systems, records and bookkeeping responsibilities already in place.

  • Organising invoices, receipts and supporting documents before they reach the accounts.
  • Using AI-assisted features without exposing confidential or sensitive financial information unnecessarily.
  • Creating clearer transaction descriptions, bookkeeping notes and query lists.
  • Setting rules for reviewing suggestions, correcting errors and escalating unusual transactions.
  • Building repeatable bookkeeping checklists for weekly, monthly or quarter-end work.
  • Helping staff understand where AI can assist and where accountant or bookkeeper judgement is still required.
Practical next step

Use AI to support bookkeeping, not replace proper oversight.

The aim is a cleaner process, better-quality records and fewer avoidable bookkeeping delays. Paisley can help you assess what is realistic for your business and where AI-assisted working may provide genuine value.

Is this for you?

Week 1 is built for complete beginners and each session is limited to six people. This keeps the training personal, makes it easier to ask questions and gives the group more time to work through examples together. If any of this sounds familiar, you are in the right place.

  • You have heard about AI but have not properly used it yet.
  • You have tried a tool once or twice and are not sure you are doing it right.
  • You want to know what is safe to type into an AI tool and what is not.
  • You want practical confidence, not technical theory.
  • You run or work in a small business and want a sensible starting point.
  • You would benefit from a small group where there is time to ask questions and receive practical support.
